Fr Aloysius Valluet, known as Fr Louis, was born on April 15th 1869 in the little village of Savigny in what is now the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France about sixty miles north of where Fr Larive had been born fifty years earlier.
He professed his vows as a member of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales on June 11th 1892 and was ordained on September 24th in the same year, at the age of twenty-three. He then travelled to England to serve as a curate in Devizes. He was a tall, thin, delicate man who was not expected to live for long.
When Fr Bouvard moved to Yeovil in 1907, Fr Louis was appointed as parish priest. The Wiltshire air must have agreed with him, as he held this post until a few months before his death, which was on February 20th 1947. He was seventy-seven.
From 1939 until 1946 he also served as the first Regional Superior of the Missionaries of St Francis de Sales in England.
He is buried in Devizes Cemetery.
